Disheartening Facts
One out of eight children under 12 in the U.S. goes to bed hungry
In Canada, the situation has taken a turn for the worse. UNICEF’s report on Child Poverty in developed countries ranks Canada near the bottom for children’s well-being, at 17 out of 23 countries. Canada prides itself on being ranked as one of the best places to live in the world.
- Nearly 15 million American children live in poverty.
- Canada is one of the richest countries in the world. However, about 1,400,000 of its children live in poverty (almost one and a half million).

Harder Times For Single Mothers And Their Children
Single-mother families are worse off than any other type of household by just about any measure you can imagine. And their bad situation has gotten worse since the recession set in.
Children of single mothers experience the worst levels of poverty. 81% of single mothers who have children under the age of 7 live in poverty. Smart countries include Sweden and France who provide far greater help to single mothers so that they and their children do not live in poverty.
A single mother working a minimum wage job only earns $1240/month before deductions. A single mother on welfare receives $987/month – a far cry from being able to afford rent, food and clothing.
Of these households with very low food security, hunger is a fact of life; 97% reported that the food they bought did not last and they did not have the money to buy more, and 28% reported that an adult didn’t eat for a whole day due to lack of food.
Though a high percentage of single-mother families received food stamps, 36.6% of them experienced food insecurity, i.e., at least sometimes didn’t have the resource for everyone to have enough food.
About half the single-mother families below the poverty threshold were in “extreme poverty,” i.e., had incomes below 50% of the threshold.
Women were a large majority (79.6%) of the adults with children who were in emergency shelters.
Well over a third (38.5%) of single-mother families lived below the poverty threshold. This is more than four and a half times the rate for married couples with children and also considerably higher than the rate for single-father families.
Empowering Nations program to help single mothers feed their children.
Shane Jeremy James has a plan for helping single mothers to feed their children. Not every single mother has a chance to feed their children. So, the vision of his plan is to help single mothers with giving food. Shane Jeremy James will create small groups of people who will each focus on one single mother and raise enough food to last a month.
Creating Leaders
Leader requirements
- A leader will find at least one other leader to take on one family
- A leader will raise two hundred dollars per month for the sponsored family
- A leader is able to raise money (should they choose) from others to sponsor their family
- A leader will follow all Empowering Nations requirements
- A leader will focus on the greater good of human mankind
- A leader will help at least one single mother
- A leader or one of their team members will be responsible for buying and delivering food to the single mothers they support at least once per month
This program will make you feel better and it helps you for real. The only way to live life is to be giving. Every single mother and child will now have a chance to overcome starvation. No child should have to go to bed hungry. You now have the potential to make a massive difference in a child’s life. So please don’t sit and listen passively.
